Prepare for Move-out
Spring 2023 Hall Closing & End-of-Year Procedures
Halls close Saturday, April 29, 2023 at noon. All students must check out of the hall by that time. Students are expected to properly check out and leave the building within 24 hours of their last final exam (unless specific university obligations require additional time, and students should share that information with their Community Coordinator for approval).
- Students approved for summer housing will transition to summer housing assignment May 4-5. All moves must be complete by 5 p.m., May 5.
- Some students prefer to check out after classes end then commute during finals week. Students may begin their checkout process at their front desk at any time. Carts will become available during the last week of classes.
- Most RAs will hold a closing meeting; if your student is unable to attend that meeting, please encourage them to connect directly with a hall staff member, as students are responsible for meeting all closing procedures.
- Neither the university, nor the residence halls, assume responsibility for traffic/parking tickets incurred during closing.
Please note:
- Continuous (24-hour) quiet hours begin at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and continue until the hall closes on April 29, 2023. Students should respect others’ needs to sleep and study. Failure to observe quiet hours may result in conduct referral or being required to check out early.
- Students must remove all belongings, food and trash, and leave room in good condition. To assist with cleaning, trashbags, brooms, and dustpans are available for use at your community's front desk. Students should follow these steps to avoid additional fees being placed on their account:
- Empty, clean, and unplug/defrost the microfridge, empty all closets, drawers, high storage spaces and desk drawers.
- Sweep the floor and remove all trash.
- Remove any nails, command strips, sticky tack, tape, etc. from the walls.
- Report any broken furniture or burned-out light bulbs to the RA or Desk Assistant upon checkout.
- Once students check out of their room, they will lose Bearcat card access to the hall. Students will not be able to re-enter the hall after this time. Student should be sure to take all of their belongings with them before checking out.
Mail & Packages:
Mail: Please do not have mail sent to the residence halls after April 25, 2022. Mail will be forwarded and may be subject to being returned to sender. Please ensure that your student updates their address moving forward.
Packages: Residents living in communities that use the Bearcats Package Center (BPC) are advised to change addresses in online purchases and be aware of shipping timelines. Summer addresses and moving dates should be shared with friends and family to ensure deliveries are efficient.
Packages received after move-out will not be forwarded and are subject to the BPC receiving policy.
Full move-out information can be found on the University Housing website.
