Pathways Advising (For Major-Changing and Transfer Students)

Whether your Bearcat is a transfer, transition, major-changing, or non-matriculated student, the Pathways Advising team can help. The dedicated and centralized team of advisors can help your student navigate through campus and find direct pathways to their educational goals at UC.

Major Change Advising

If your student feels they may not be in the proper major, the first step is to discuss their options with their college advisor.  If they are thinking of changing their major, their primary advisor will refer them to Pathways Advising through a special form. Pathways advisors work with students at orientation to review their options. Sometimes a major change is not possible as a program may be full or have specific requirements, such as special entry scores or prerequisite courses. Pathways advisors can walk students through these requirements and discuss their path to their desired major.  The first step is always to touch base with the assigned college advisor. Once fall semester begins, students can stop by the Pathways office or set up an appointment directly with a Pathways advisor to discuss their options. Currently, Pathways Advising sessions are being offered online through Webex throughout the summer. Please note, registration for all freshmen will begin with their primary advisor.
