The Department of Public Safety at the University of Cincinnati is committed to providing a safe campus environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The staff of UC's Public Safety Department work hand-in-hand with members of the Cincinnati Police Department and other community partners to prevent crime and provide vital safety services and resources. We believe that working as a team is critical to preserving the safety of our campus and community.

Although safety is a shared responsibility, living in a vibrant urban city also requires personal accountability. The Department of Public Safety offers the Bearcat Guardian mobile app to enhance communication between UC Police and the campus community, in addition to free day and evening transportation, safety notifications and fire prevention and safety tips.

Ensuring a safe environment on and around campus is our highest priority. UC's Department of Public Safety provides all public safety and emergency response resources for the University of Cincinnati, including our regional campuses, UC Blue Ash and UC Clermont. Primary sections within the department are:

• Police: Patrol, Investigations, 911 Dispatch, Crime Prevention, Security and NightRide units
• Fire Safety: Campus building inspections to ensure facilities meet fire and safety codes and maintenance on and testing of facility smoke detectors
• Security Systems: Keys, locks, ID Badges, intrusion alarms, fingerprinting and background checks
